High Res Rocketpack Blueprints

Here is the "Hughes" version of the rocketpack blueprints. Probably several generations removed from the originals, but still cool.

Who Was (Almost) The Rocketeer?

There are lots of rumors about who was almost cast as the Rocketeer, most notably Johnny Depp. Here's proof of another little known choice that would have been interesting.

Weird French Poster

I guess 6 months and an airbrush aren't always a good thing.

Gee Bee Crash Video

As you may or may not be aware, The Rocketeer is a work of fiction. It does however have many elements based in reality. Among them is the Gee Bee Z, an actual record breaking plane from 1931. It unfortuanely met the same end as it's fictional counterpart, although I doubt tommy guns played a role in this incident. Bless you, youtube.

Rotten Rocketeermatoes

The Rocketeer is currently holding down a 60% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is pretty good all things considered. The travesty comes from the audience rating, where it has a 54%. By comparison, the following movies have a higher rating: Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and most insulting of all - Ghost Rider. It's no wonder we don't have a Blu-Ray yet. So go to Rotten Tomatoes and rate The Rocketeer.

The Podcast-eteer

Listen to someone other than yourself talk about the Rocketeer for an hour. A great podcast in general, this episode is exceptional. As you can guess by the name of the show, this one may not be suitable for little Rocketeers

The Rocketeer...The Movie...The Ride...

Have you ever dreamed of a Rocketeer ride at a Disneyland? Probably not going to happen any time soon, but here's a fantastic submission to a Disney sponsored design contest by Josh Steadman and a group of his friends. It's so good many websites have mistaken it for the real thing.

John Mattos

John created the original theatrical poster for The Rocketeer, and as it turns out he also created every other poster you've ever seen. Unfortunately, his design was abandoned at the last minute in favor of one that showcased the cast. However, John's original idea lives on as one of the greatest movie posters ever created. Check out his site for a little commentary on its creation.

See if it's still "part of the show"

Would you believe Bigelow's hangar built specifically for The Rocketeer is still standing and is now part of the Santa Maria Museum of Flight. The museum is open daily for tours, just be sure to park away from the runway.
